Simply stunning European Art Deco drop earrings of marcasite-spangled silver. The long drops are exquisitely modeled 835 grade silver, with a romantic floral design that hearkens back to the Art Nouveau era. Glittering marcasites accent the pierced and engraved silver. Two points of articulation give the earrings a graceful swing. These lovely earrings hang from their original marcasite-studded lever back ear wires, so comfortable and easy to wear. A delightful example of one of History's most glamorous eras. Circa 1920.
Marcasite is a soft greyish/silver mineral which gained popularity in the late 19th Century and became one of the most popular gems of the Art Deco era. Marcasites are especially lovely in silver, where their dark sparkle plays nicely with the cool metal.
